Back in February 2018, we were proud to create the opening ceremony performance for the new NST multi million pound arts complex in the heart of Southampton’s cultural quarter.

Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) is one of the UK’s leading professional theatre companies, commissioning, developing and producing fresh, vital experiences through theatre.

NST has developed a profile and reputation for innovation and quality delivering work on a national and international scale, whilst acting as a major cultural force for good in the city of Southampton.

In February 2018, NST opened a second venue in Southampton’s city centre, NST City, housing flexible 450 seat main house theatre, a 133 seat studio, screening facilities, rehearsal and workshop spaces.

Zoie was extremely honoured when commissioned to create the public opening performance of this much awaited building, which from conception to opening took 14 years.

The performance called ‘Homegrown’ involved 138 participants, aged 6 months to 68 years from across communities in Southampton and was watched  by over 4,000 people. Homegrown was inspired by the idea of journeying and our long standing ties to industry.

Various groups represented the city’s affiliation with the Spitfire and Ford manufacturing, import and export in the docks and the idea of arrival and departure.
