ZoieLogic Dance Theatre is seeking a passionate and experienced Participation Producer to join our team in delivering The Austentatious Ball.
This unique event will mark the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth in Hampshire and will engage a community cast of 100 participants and community groups in an immersive and inclusive “ball-inspired” experience.
Take a look at the opportunity below!
The Austentatious Ball is not a traditional show; it’s a hosted event championing dance for all where inclusivity and active participation are central to its design and execution. Participants will be encouraged to express their best selves through movement, with guidance to interact with one another through facilitated compositions, structured improvisation, and call-and-response moments.
The Austentatious Ball is commissioned by Mayflower and directed by ZoieLogic as part of the nationwide Austen 250 celebrations, marking the 250th year since Jane Austen was born in Hampshire
We are looking for an enthusiastic Participation Producer to support the development and coordination of this major community engagement project. This is a freelance position (22 days total @ £225 per day), ideal for someone with experience in participatory work, particularly in mass movement settings. The role requires strong community communication skills, a passion for inclusive practice, and ideally, knowledge of the community arts scene in Southampton and beyond.
We value diverse lived experiences and are especially keen to hear from those underrepresented in the arts, including individuals from the global majority, younger voices, and those with experiences of disability, neurodiversity, or other perspectives that challenge barriers and drive innovation.
Take a look at our 2023 mass participation project Solara, a dance work by Critical Mass Dance Collective (CMDC), an inclusive dance company featuring an integrated cast with people identifying as D/deaf, Disabled and non-disabled from the midlands.
At ZoieLogic, we’re a small yet dynamic team of creatives, strategists, and change-makers, united by a bold mission: to transform lives through the power of movement and dance.
We thrive on collaboration, energy, and pushing boundaries. Whether we’re working in the studio, out in communities, or staging large-scale public performances, our team is hands-on, supportive, and always looking for new ways to innovate. You’ll be working alongside passionate artists, producers, and engagement specialists who are experts at making dance accessible, unexpected, and powerful.
We challenge the norms of who dance is for, where it happens, and how people experience it. From getting more men dancing to activating public spaces with mass participation events, we believe anywhere can be a dance floor.
With 25 years of impact behind us (2025 marks our milestone anniversary), we’re nationally recognized as pioneers in male dance participation and as producers of inclusive, co-created movement experiences.
We are proud to foster an inclusive and welcoming culture, where diverse perspectives and lived experiences are valued. As a Disability Confident Employer, we are committed to ensuring accessibility and equal opportunities for all.
