Regeneration is a brand new and free Social Prescribing programme for 11-25 year olds with long term health conditions at Southampton Children's Hospital. On 23rd August 2021 the ZoieLogic Dance Theatre team were invited to lead a workshop for 6 young people on the first day of a week-long arts festival called ReImagine, created by the team at Regeneration.

Alex (Dance Artist and Facilitator) and Lizanne (Head of Engagement and Facilitator) collaborated to lead a 2 hour workshop providing an introduction to Dance Theatre. We focused on story telling by devising movement from a poem and working with props – temperamental umbrellas, to explore the theme of climate change.
“Despite a power-cut and a change of venue Alex and I had a brilliant afternoon with the young people. Their creativity and enthusiasm was energising!”
At ZoieLogic we are passionate about young people, their development and access to opportunities and as a committed partner of Regeneration we are here to support the delivery of this brilliant social prescribing programme.
The young people were super creative! They made great movements and took each task in their stride, really bringing the words of the poem to life. This piece was developed and added to through other arts forms during the course of the week and presented by the young people at MAST Mayflower Studios on Friday.
“Lilly came out absolutely buzzing having not only had a wonderful time at the workshop but also making a new friend…both of which are huge for her!!! Thank you.”Parent of participant

Following the Reimagine Festival, Regeneration has a breadth of projects coming up for young people with long term health conditions.
We are really excited to be collaborating with Abby Oakley, Heads UP Project Lead at Solent Mind to create a mental health and wellbeing campaign, transform it into a movement performance and share as part of HEADFUNK which is returning on Friday 19th November.
Some of the young people we met at the workshop have already got themselves signed up for this project which is amazing!
The first session begins Thursday 23rd September at Oasis Lords Hill.
So if you have, or know anyone with a long term health condition who may be interested in taking part in HEADFUNK this November click HERE for more information and get signed up!
