Ride portrays the story of three men whose separate paths coincide for a short time as they discover a most curious thing; a car that seems to have a life of its own.
These four souls, three men and one machine take a strange, exciting journey together, on which they discover and explore man and machines reliance on each other, and themselves.
It’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with an ‘80s vibe, an athletic physicality and daring stunts, and features a real car which rotates and pivots to provide the performance playground.
Commissioned and co-produced forInternational Dance Festival Birmingham 2016, co-commissioned by Gulbenkian (University of Kent) and Dance Village at Bristol Harbour Festival

How does a dance company, a community and local business work together to create significant positive change?
The answer is — we are holyrood

ZoieLogic Dance Theatre with the community of Holyrood estate are on a mission to raise aspirations, create opportunities, challenge perceptions and illuminate the place we proudly call home – we call it, We Are Holyrood.
Since 2019 and driven by the community, we have been bringing to life stories of past, present and have been imagining the future through dance performance, film and social gatherings. To continue this work we need you.
Together, we’re striving to create a safe and thriving place, overflowing with creativity, where resident pride leads the way and a lasting legacy never ends.
Our programme of yearly activity includes:
Set in the heart of Southampton, Holyrood is a tight-knit pocket of social housing built in the 1950s, featuring high-rise flats, terraced houses, green spaces and a community hub.
Historic negative stereotyping, rising gentrification and zero youth service provision have led to a community feeling disconnected, forgotten and misunderstood, where aspirations are low for the young people living there as well as support networks and access to positive activities non-existent.

Creating access to dance is important, that’s why we started ManMade – one of the only male youth dance platforms in the UK.
This is — manmade

ManMade will return in 2026. Contact Community Engagement Manager, Sam Connis, for a chat. sam@zoielogic.co.uk
ManMade is an all male youth dance platform that brings together young people from different secondary and primary schools, to push the boundaries of boys dance. We are so proud that ManMade offers a stepping stone for young people identifying as male to progress their dance skills.
Our unique approach provides specialist training from professional dancers and choreographers, resulting in a high profile celebration on a theatre stage.
ManMade was launched back in 2010 and is now established as an annual fixture in Newbury and now, following a successful seven-year run, Southampton, as a second regional platform in 2018.
ManMade is delivered in partnership with a local venue or arts organisation to develop a rich, sustainable offer that has proven to; increase boys dance in the area, advocate for dance in education and open doors to unique career development pathways.
To date over 1,400 young males aged seven to 19 have participated in a ManMade event from 16 schools across the region.
