The Big Movement: We are getting men* moving for mental health

At ZoieLogic, we’re on a mission to get thousands of men moving for men’s mental health. Yes, you read that right—men and dance!

From dancing in workplaces to community centres, high streets to parks. Men will be moving towards the world’s first mass male dance event, set to take over Southampton in 2027: The Big Movement.

With 1 in 3 men in the UK facing isolation and loneliness, doubling their risk of depression and suicide, it’s time to take action. The Big Movement is a bold statement bringing people together to shine a light on men’s mental health, move for wellbeing and make real change.

Men’s Mental Health is a big deal and we believe it deserves a big moment. A big expression of solidarity, of community spirit, of togetherness….All through the transformative power of movement.

But why dance?

Dance is a proven superpower that transforms both mind and body.

For the body, dance boosts cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance, enhancing overall fitness. For the mind, it sharpens cognitive function, reduces stress, and increases feel-good hormones like dopamine and serotonin, boosting happiness and well-being.

The science is clear: dancing is one of the best forms of treatment for depression, with dancing for just 25 minutes reducing the symptoms of depression by 47 percent. Taking part in dance also enhances neurotransmitter activity in the brain, boosts self-esteem, and improves mindfulness – contributing to better mood and mental health.

So, whether for fitness or fun, dance empowers you to sync your body and mind, leaving you energised and ready for any challenge.

Impossible?? Not for us

For over 24 years, we’ve championed the transformative power of dance, witnessing firsthand how it can change lives and that is for everyone of every ability.

At ZoieLogic, we break down barriers to dance by challenging outdated perceptions and expanding access, showing that anyone can dance and that anywhere can be a dancefloor.

We specialise in working with men with no dance experience to rediscover their courage, ignite their creativity and demonstrate their pride of who they are through  dance. This work has long-standing positive impact on men’s wellbeing, with many of the men we work with choosing to make dance a regular, transformative part of their lives.

*When we refer to men, we embrace all individuals who identify as a man and are inclusive of non-binary people who identify with expressions and experiences of being male.
